Going skiing? Here’s where to eat on the Amiata

Time for snow and skiing weekends. For those who decide to treat themselves to a weekend on Mount Amiata, here are the ideal places to “get their legs under the table” in the Wine Station episode on air Saturday, January 29th from 12.10 to 13 on Antenna Radio Esse. There’s wide choice and by clicking on the site amiataturismo.it you can have plenty of advice for restaurants on the slopes of the Amiata in Siena and Grosseto. We recommend “The Cantinone” from Abbadia San Salvatore and the cuisine of young chef Alessio: typical and genuine, perfect for taking a tasty break from skiing. For wine, the focus is on the Enoclub of Siena, association led by Davide Bonucci and counting more than 60 enthusiasts of Bacchus’s nectar, having fun sharing (and uncorking) prized bottles. The journey between the Vernaccia of San Gimignano stops this week by the estate of Simone Santini, Le Calcinaie. Santini will illustrate the characteristics of his Vernaccia and its organic certification, as well as talk about the goals of 2011. Finally, we will discuss the XXI edition of the Guido Tarlati Prize that the Arezzo Chefs’ Association will present together witht the XVII edition of the international “Catherine de ‘Medici” prize, organized by the Regional Chefs’ Union from Tuscany. Featuring names such as Filippo La Mantia, Heinz Beck and chef Mario Neri from Siena.
